This policy is published by MetroHive, which operates metrohively.com. MetroHive advertises part-time and full-time opportunities that can be done from home anywhere in the UK and introduces applicants to the businesses offering them. It does not employ the people it introduces. Questions about this policy can be sent to careers@metrohively.com. MetroHive acts as controller of the personal data described below and processes it in accordance with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Applications are not collected through a form on this website. Selecting an apply button takes you to WhatsApp, where you can message our HR team. MetroHive receives personal data about you only once you send that message or email us.
Your WhatsApp message provides your mobile number, WhatsApp display name and whatever you write, which is normally your name, the role you are after and your availability. Emails provide your address and the content of the email. Other information is held only if you volunteer it.
Browsing the website produces technical information including IP address, device and browser type, the pages you open and when, the page you came from, and identifiers set by cookies or advertising platforms. Selecting an apply button increases a click total held on our server; the total contains nothing that identifies the person who clicked.
You will never be asked by MetroHive for a National Insurance number, bank account or card details, a password, a verification code, or a copy of a passport or driving licence. Please do not include them in a message. We delete any we receive.
Answering your message and introducing you to the employer for the role you chose are steps taken at your request, supported by our legitimate interest in operating a recruitment service. Keeping records and responding to complaints or misuse are based on legitimate interests. Advertising measurement is based on consent where the law requires consent, and legitimate interests where it does not. Retention or disclosure that the law requires is based on legal obligation.
We do not trade, sell or rent personal data, and sending an enquiry does not sign you up for marketing. If we believe a different employer would suit you, we set out that introduction and share your details for it only after you agree.
Within MetroHive, access is restricted to the people who process applications. The employer identified for your chosen role receives the details relevant to it, and before we make the introduction you are told who the employer is and what information it will receive.
Website hosting, security and forwarding of email to our address are provided by Cloudflare. Google Tag Manager containers GTM-PCNPZ9HQ and GTM-WKZ39SCJ load Google's measurement and advertising tags. Fonts are delivered by Google Fonts. A WhatsApp link service redirects an apply-button tap to the correct WhatsApp chat and, in doing so, receives technical information such as IP address and device type. WhatsApp and its associated providers transmit the messages. These organisations follow their own terms, and employers and WhatsApp handle information they hold under their own privacy policies.
We may disclose personal data where legally required, or where lawful and reasonably necessary to investigate misuse or to protect another person's rights.
Your device opens WhatsApp when you select Apply, but no message is sent unless you confirm the recipient and press Send. A message you send is kept in MetroHive's authorised WhatsApp account and, after an introduction, may also be kept by the employer. Anyone who cannot use WhatsApp can email careers@metrohively.com to arrange an alternative way of applying.
Tags delivered through our Tag Manager containers may place cookies or use similar identifiers to measure traffic and advertising results, and an advertising platform may have placed an identifier before you arrived. With no form on the website, there is no name, email address or phone number on these pages that could be included in a measurement event or URL. Where consent for non-essential cookies is required under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, it is requested before those cookies are relied on and can be withdrawn at any time. You may also disable cookies in your browser, which may change how parts of the site behave.
Some providers process data in countries outside the UK, the United States among them. Those transfers are covered by UK adequacy regulations or by appropriate safeguards such as the International Data Transfer Addendum. Details of the safeguards are available by email.
Application messages and related correspondence are erased 12 months after our last substantive contact with you about recruitment, unless you ask for earlier deletion or a legal obligation or dispute requires longer retention. Server and security logs generally expire within 30 days, and deleted records may persist in restricted backups for a further 30 days at most.
Connections to the website use HTTPS, and only staff who need applications for their work can open them. As no system is completely secure, a breach likely to create a risk to individuals' rights is reported to the regulator within 72 hours where required, and those affected are informed directly when the risk is high.
Where an employer or WhatsApp holds its own copy of your data, deletion of our records does not affect that copy. We will tell you who to approach in those cases.
You are entitled to be informed about processing, to access your personal data, to rectification and erasure, to restriction of and objection to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. Requests go to careers@metrohively.com; we may ask for information to verify who you are, and we respond free of charge within one month. An introduction already made cannot be reversed by withdrawing an application.
MetroHive does not use automated decision-making or profiling. Each message is read by a member of staff.
The website is intended for adults seeking work and is not aimed at children. Personal data belonging to a child is deleted once we become aware of it.
Write to careers@metrohively.com describing how you believe your data was mishandled. We investigate and reply in writing. If you remain dissatisfied, respond to our reply and the matter is re-examined by a colleague who was not involved before. There is no charge, and your other remedies are unaffected.
Revised versions are posted on this page with the date updated. Before using data already held in a materially different way, we give notice or ask for permission where the law requires.
